For now, let’s venture to the East and learn from the famous Indian Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda. Vivekananda was born 12 January 1863 and he died on  4 July 1902. 

Despite his short life, history will always remember him as the man who brought the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the West. In addition to travelling throughout India as a ‘wandering monk’, he also travelled to Europe and the United States where he delivered lectures on Eastern wisdom. It was in 1893, whilst on tour in Chicago that he introduced Hinduism during his famous speech at the Parliament of the World’s Religions. We can safely say that Vivekananda paved the way for teachers like Deepak Chopra. 

Vivekananda’s legacy is still with us today. He is the founder of Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission
