Celaena, an eighteen-year-old assassin, is dragged in front of the crown prince after serving her punishment for her crimes in salt mines. The prince offered her freedom in terms of winning and acting as his champion in the competition held to find the royal assassin.
Her opponents include thugs, assassins, and warriors who are sponsored by the council of the king. She must beat her competitors in the series of eliminations. Celaena started her training sessions with the caption Westfall and found these sessions tiring and exhilarating.
The story takes a great and interesting term when the best competitors start getting murdered one by one. Celaena not only has to retain her position in the competition but also has to do her best to keep herself safe and to find the assassin. The search for the assassin leads her to the discovery of a great destiny that she could never have imagined.
