The story of this novel revolves around a sixteen-year-old girl who is a cyborg living in New Beijing, which is also considered a futuristic city in the Commonwealth. Cinder lives with her stepsister and her cruel stepmother and has a booth in the marketplace. The young and handsome Prince Kai visited Cinder and asked her to repair his android.
Even though Cinder likes Prince, she is afraid to reveal her identity. Meanwhile, a deadly disease, ketosis, spreads quickly throughout the marketplace and affects everybody by causing a severe allergic reaction. Cinder, in the absence of her stepmother, accidentally exposes her stepsister to the deadly disease and causes her to have a rash.
Her stepmother, as revenge for her daughter, forces Cinder to join the forces that are searching for the cure of this deadly disease. Cinder is about to face a completely different world while saving her stepsister’s life and, ultimately, the whole planet.
