The story is about a detective who is eagerly searching for a murderer in a small town in Switzerland. The detective of the case makes a pledge with the mother of the victim to investigate and catch the murderer.
Even though, according to the police, the murderer was arrested and the case was closed, the detective was assured that this person was not the real murderer. Hence, to prove his point, the detective lays a plot to catch the real murderer. However, the cruel turn of the story makes him pay for the plot and the Pledge.
